Yup. I am officially a blogger schmuck. I have not updated since the end of July. I missed an entire month (+). And what meager excuses do I have? Nothing, really. Let's see:
1) I finished my first completed thesis draft of all 5 chapters. So much of it will be re-written, yay!
2) I went to DC twice: once at the beginning of August, and once at the very beginning of September. Tag, the bf is it!
3) I moved from the apartment with a room with a view to a different place (no comment).
4) I have had some side projects at work sexing things up (haha! Yes, that's right "sexy" historical research for litigation! Who knew.). Oh, and of course, August always brings Fun Day at PHI, when we all go somewhere to have "Fun" with other PHI employees, who we may or may not know, and aren't ever officially introduced to. This year we went to Saunders Farm Can you tell that some more folks now have kids, and wee-ish ones at that? The firm is aging, man. I am old, but not "with children" old, though I did spend most of the day with Samuel, my buddy Bird's son, who happens to be v. cute, v. verbal, and v. irresistable.
Anyhoo, not much new other than the above. I went out for lunch over the weekend and was chastized for not blogging proper. The blogging brotherhood threatened to wack me (you KNOW who you are!). I also made a new Korean dish for the first time this weekend - Sun Du Boo (or SoonDuBoo or something else like it - just google away). It was yummy. I forgot to take a photo. For next time, I promise all you foodies that I will, just to make you jealous.
Finally, I goofed off and caught the last part of Funny Face on tele Saturday night. How fantastic is this movie? Good, solid entertainment all round. I love Audrey, and I love her in this flick. The first time I heard that she was playing opposite Fred, I thought, "Oh, come on. As if someone as lovely looking and regal as Audrey could be paired with someone as short, plain, and goofy-but-charming as Fred! Apples and oranges, I say." But, I was wrong wrong wrong. It's great and they are wonderful. This is in no small part due to supporting actress Kay Thompson who just helps the pair match fantastically by being such a warm and wonderful foil to elements of both Hepburn's and Astaire's characters. The dialogue, the sets, the music - it's all so fab. Of course, since you all know me so well, I am sure you are thinking that the high fashion backdrop (and Givenchy couture), Parisian setting, romantic-comedy-musical formula, and beatnik overtones are all in the film's favour for gaining my undieing admiration. Anyhoo, you should watch it, preferably while eating a hemp seed brownie from Wild Oat bakery. Yum!
