So, I am only now getting to an entry about NYC and the rest of the holiday. To be honest, it was a bit of a blur and I am exhausted.
New York was super fun, but wayyy more cold than I expected. And, while I tried valiantly to shop 'til I dropped, I didn't have much success (though, still managed to spend quite a bit of dough, of course). Probably the best day was the Tuesday that Papersmith took off from studying. We got up and walked through the East side of midtown to get a New York style bagel breakfast at a local deli. Then we walked down to Greenwich and eventually Chinatown. We got a little sidetracked and ended up in the Bargain district, but finally got down to Canal street to take a wander around for an hour or so. Of course, we mainly bought some Chinese Bakery goods, which we then took with us to a cafe in the East Village.
We took a rest and lunch break at the cafe, including partaking of super cute Chinese cake, before we went up the street to the Orpheum theater to see Stomp. I loved it soooo much! Very good - glad it's still running! Then we went off to NYU area of town, where I stopped at La Petite Coquette to get some lingerie (where Sara Jessica Parker bought some of hers). We then went through Union Square and eventually walked back to Korea Town. We had dinner at Wonjo this fabulous Korean resto with a grill house on the second floor. We had some bulgogi and baby octopus grill on the traditional charcoal grill. Soooo yummy - especially with Korean beer (I believe I had an OB). Afterwards, even though we were super full we pushed onward by stopping down the street for some Pinkberry fro-yo. Again, super delish. The day ended in the apartment, I think watching Sex And The City. So much fun!
Anyhoo, for New Years we went out for dinner (not the best place - an understatement given we both got food poisoning after midnight/the next day), but we walked around afterwards and saw all the hooplah and crowds. They had the police out in full force, including the horse brigade, and a lot of the streets in midtown near Time Square were blocked off. It was freezing cold though, so we headed back to the apartment to have to Magnolia Bakery cupcakes (that I waited in line for at the Rockefeller Plaza store earlier that day), and some champagne - and more Sex And The City.
When I got back a basically had 3 days before heading out to Vancouver for work. Vancouver was half rainy and half almost sunny, and filled with very yummy food (restaurants, gourmet grocery stores, fabulous sushi lunch places...ah, so nice).
You'll note the lack of pics for both - in NYC it snowed 2 days and threatened rain 2 more, and then I was at home sick my last full day in town, so I never really took much. A big bummer as I did have some opportunities, but kept thinking I'd get better ones as the trip went along. Learned my lesson. While Vancouver was nice, I really didn't have much time to sightsee so the camera stayed at home. Bummer.
So, now the month is half over and I feel like I never even got a rest from Xmas! Oh well, I hope you all passed a good holiday and are enjoying the new year. Cheers!

I feel bad that I ruined the NYC trip between the books and foot! Maybe we can try another city again? I think if we made it semi last minute I can avoid any bookish issues.
Though tues was super fun and I did enjoy the other nights we walked/ate...
