Attack of Mahoney

Ahhhhh! This morning on my way to work I suffered a vile attack by liberal baloney, ur, I mean, Mahoney. Richard Mahoney that is. Liberal candidate for Ottawa-Centre. He's the guy I had the opportunity to vote for last time and didn't, 'cause I much preferred to put Broadbent back in action. Sadly, Broadbent isn't running this time as his wife is battling the big C. So, Mahoney, shmoozing it up with Chiarelli last week, is pulling all the usual liberal stops - or so I thought.

This morning Mahoney accosted me on the corner of Elgin and Somerset. He had two (maybe three, I wasn't counting) little barely-out-of-teen supporters chattering away inanely and occasionally shouting at people. Before I realized what I was crossing the street into, I was shaking his hand as he introduced himself and delightfully informed me that he was "my candidate", to which I replied (likely in a semi-mutter, as I had not had my coffee yet; in fact, he interrupted me on my way to get my coffee before going to the office) that he "wasn't my candidate" as I was from Ottawa-Vanier, where I won't be voting Liberal even though Mauril is a 1000xs a better candidate than he (Mahoney) is. He didn't respond. The light changed, and I was off down the street as he and his post-teenies accosted other poor working schlobs who were trying to get away as quickly as possible.

A few comments on Richard's morning suffering scheme. One, I cannot believe that the Liberal machine, usually anal and controlling enough to have crushed a lack luster spectacle as Mahoney annoying people randomly on a busy street in the AM, would have let this go on. Where was his campaign manager?!? Mahoney was standing, not moving, not approaching people or businesses who he knew to be in his riding, but standing (the lazy git) on a street corner in rush hour when people were trying to get to work. He had two little kids (okay, let's say 19/20 year olds) with him, shouting at people in the morning!

Two, It was ridiculous. It made Mahoney look like a foolish idiot. I mean, he appears to have no support (2 barely college age kids were all they could get?), no understanding of general economics (people go to work in the morning with the goal of getting to work), and no idea of who is to be voting for him (it's an intersection in the downtown core; what, only those who live in the downtown core work in the downtown core?). His comment about being MY candidate was an awful script flaw that someone, or god say it, Richard, should've caught, especially after my retort (I heard him use the same line of the next person). He didn't respond to my statement that he wasn't MY candidate at all (why: Idiot? Misogynist? We know he's not mute!). Argh, so annoying.

Overall, this little event announced to me that Richard Mahoney is:
- Lazy
- Lacking proper Fed Lib supervision and support (& a decent campaign manager)
- Idiotic
Reasons enough why all Ottawa-Centre should vote in Dewar, and why the Liberal machine deserves a pummeling. It was a pitiful way to start my day. How Grrr.
