It's Tulip Time

Okay, okay, okay. It's been forever. I suck. But even though it's been almost a month (egads) since the last update, I can assure that nothing much has happened. Seriously.

So, right now in the 'Wa it is Tulip Time. Those from here know that this means that it's time for the annual Tulip Festival. The tulips are up all around the city - nice of them to come out and play. The water is in the canal so it's a nice walk around the tulip route areas such as Dow's Lake. Pretty, pretty! Soon (probably next week) the tourists will start coming (it's a bit early and cold now; minus 2 overnight!). The festival is running until late in the month this year, and since Mr. P is visiting again in two weeks or so, I shall even manage to be a tour guide (of sorts) for the festival this year. Woohoo!

What else? Oh, I started purchasing things on ebay (instead of working on my thesis!). I lost 2-3 items in a row (yes, I was a little pathetic for a while there), but I finally won a lovely purse that should arrive by the end of the week! Between this and a summer Michael Kors dress that I got at half price from the Schad Overflow store on Sussex, I am well on my way to enlivening my summer wardrobe. Did I mention that those were this weeks purchases? Last weekend I got a nice fat black leather belt from Holt Renfrew (accessories sale!), and the weekend before that I got a gold bracelet and a pair of semi precious stone pebble and gold danglies from Amuse on Dalhousie. The best part? The bracelet is by designer Kendra Scott! How cool is that?!! It's been a shopping bonanza ~ as usual.

Thesis-wise, I did rewrite and finish chapter 1 over the past week and a half, so that's not bad. Start Chapter 2 today. Yay!

Hmm, other life stuff...wait, do I have a life? Aside from shopping? My bathroom was redone and the tub was re-enamelled and it's super shiny white (it looks a bit intimidatingly virginal at this point). Wonder how long that will last? My book club has rebanded; well, actually, it never disbanded, but rather took a 5-6 month hiatus. Now we are reading the Book of Saladin by Tariq Ali. Supposed to be good. Looks interesting but potentially yawn inducing. I'll post my book review at the end of the month (the club meets then, and I shall not be reading the book until 1-3 prior to the meeting). And for the moment I recommend the reading of last spring's best read for me, a Canadian work: The Cripple and His Talisman. If you like a twisted surrealism, you will love this!

Stay (somewhat) tuned!
