Weird Wonderful Happenings

So, for some reason this weekend I heard from not one, not two, but three people whom I haven't heard from in quite a while. How wonderful is that? I also had a fairly positive horroscope in our local indie arts paper, Xpress. Usually, being a scorpio in the realm of Free Will Astrology means you get not so hot astrological advice/prophecies. Some how, though, I escaped the usual fate and was compared to both a thunderbird and a nightingale. How wonderful am I? (Apparently, very!)

Other wonderful things that have happend (okay, these are the nice little things we appreciate in life, nothing big here). I bought a J. Winterson collection of short stories I hadn't read, titled "The World and Other Places". It was truly, deeply, wonderfully Winterson. She finally has some more direct and personal commentary/discussion on lesbianism in some of the stories, which is something I have really wanted to see her go back to since her Whitbread prize winning "Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit". I feel quite happy having finished it. Very satisfied for literature for the next little while, which is good since I have started to work on more thesis writing. (Will it ever end?)

Also did some hiking in Gatineau park over weekend. Woohoo. Sorry, no pictures.

What else? There was something else. Something quite magical. Oh, yes! My lovely, long suffering (at least for the first 1.5 years in was in my care) african violet has finally, finally bloomed! I do not lie. See the picture as proof. This was without even trying to "feed" it tea, as my Aunt and Grandmother told me to do at Christmas. (Personally, if I don't drink Orange P tea, I don't see why I should buy it and brew it for the plant. But, maybe that's just me.) Oh, and even the office plants are doing well under my care. See!

I hope everyone is finding their world just as wonderful. Later.
