I am dying to try a cupcake from this UK bakery Crumbs and Doilies. If you think the store's website is exciting (and drool worthy), then check out the behind the scenes (ish) blog. Should I find myself at their door in London, then I shall promptly order a coffee cupcake and a flavour of the month cupcake. Do look at the store's website scrapbook for some inspiration.
On another note, when I make a strawberry shortcake this summer, I will make a vanilla version with bean and the light fluffy slightly spongey cake and a version with almond sour cream base cake and compare the two to decide, ultimately, which is better a vanilla or almond base. I like cake better than the biscuits for the shortcake base.
