I really can't let go of this cupcake thing. I am in the thralls! I can't stop trying to create new cupcake recipes. It's super addictive once you start.
I am also making a list of places for the DC cupcake crawl tentatively scheduled for April 23rd, 2008. I have decided that we must go to Cake Love (they now have a cupcake bar), Le Cupcake (or Stacy's Coffee Parlour where they sell Le Cupcake cupcakes), and Baked and Wired in Georgetown.
I have also made a decision on how to make the Key Lime cupcakes, but more on that will follow after I've made them. For now, you will simply have to wonder at this bit of general baking trivia: the Graham Cracker Cake.

Yes, a cake made of those little crackers (and no flour!) exists, and not only that, it is considered to be an American tradition of sorts. Weird, huh? Check out a recipe or two.
Finally, I will admit that I have now purchased my first book (below) aimed to improve my cupcake skills.

It's actually about cakes, but I belong to the cupcakes are a subset of mini-cakes or small-cakes, and therefore what applies to cakes in general applies to cupcakes. I decided to purchase a cake design/decorating book, since that is my most obvious weakness (or so I think). I bought The Well Decorated Cake by Toba Garrett. It is being shipped by Chapters to me soon (I hope). I picked it cause it was not too volumous and it got stellar ratings from other bakers. Can't wait!
The Cupcaker out.
