Tokyo has joined the cupcake craze thanks to the entrepreneurial spirit of UK bakers at Notting Hill Cakes & Gifts. Sigh! Looks super lovely. I shall try the Pistachio and Red Velvet whenever it is that I get to visit (optimistic, much?).
I understand from other blogs that cupcakes are indeed popular enough in Tokyo - not sure about the rest of Japan. Unfortunately, the same doesn't seem to be true of Korea. But, maybe this will slowly change as Korean continue to embrace the best food and drink trends of the West. Wine is much MUCH more popular than it was when I was there 6-7 years or so ago. It even regularly appears in pop cultural movies and k-dramas (without a hint of scandal!). Even the preimmenent Le Cordon Bleu culinary arts institute has partnered with a Korean Women's university to bring some of the finest European culinary arts to Korea. They ship in French instructors and provide Korean translator's for the non-French speaking students. How intense! I would love to take their Patisserie diplome - what dreams are made of!
I am on the hunt for some good Key Limes in Ottawa for the cupcakes for this weekend.Thought I'd found a good place, but there bunches were too old - darn tootin! I really wanted to use Key limes as they are smaller and cuter than usual limes & if my limes are cute then won't that impart extra cuteness to my cupcakes?!

I'll have to visit a good fruit company, I believe. Too bad it's going to be a -14 degree high day tomorrow. Ouch.
