Happy Dance Worthy News

In the current land of moi there is curiousity mixed with fear when it comes to food things these days. Why? Because of the crazy allergy diet, of course (haven't you been reading my posts?!). I spend way too much time contemplating the next weekend's baking because I don't want to waste a yummy treat opportunity by a) making the wrong recipe/treat, ie. not satisfying my sweet treat desires of the week, or b) having a recipe turn out badly. I really don't have time to cook much during the week, and certainly no time to bake, so it's Friday-Sunday and game over as far as creative cooking and baking go.

During the week I ponder food and peruse websites and cookbooks -with an unhealthy fascination- for inspiration for the upcoming weekend. This next weekend is going to be fantastic. It starts with Pad Thai on Friday. I am going to make cocoa-zucchini cupcakes for dessert, and perhaps even lemon or strawberry scones on Sunday. Oh, and I would like to make something like lamb sausages, greens, and soda bread for dinner either during the week or Sunday night (and if not on Sunday then I shall make a Korean or Japanese dish too). As you might be able to guess, I am just working on the thesis this weekend.

The weekend after is Sex & The City though!!! I am wondering if I should me a SATC treat of some sort for the gals. Hmmm, what to make that says "Sex" and "City"? Maybe the strawberry scones should wait 'til then. Or I should do something with cocoa butter (which I finally found in a health food store). Suggestions welcome.

Okay, but what I was really happy about today was that a bunch of the UK Yeast allergy sites state that tequila and champagne are okay in limited quantities (as well as the gin and vodka stuff). Not only that but the French are now making sugar free champagne, which would be so perfect (will the LCBO come through? Who knows!). Even better, Mr. P is coming up in June and we wanted to go out for dinner. I found out that my fave dish at Von's Bistro (coconut curry mussels and fries) could be made allergy safe and they let you BYOB with a $15 corkage fee. I am so bringing champagne! Maybe we'll go twice!

So happy!
